Một số mặt hàng ghi nhận nhiều triển vọng thị trường trong khi có những nhóm hàng, dù đạt giá trị xuất khẩu hàng tỷ USD, nhưng sẽ đối mặt với khó khăn, thách thức.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has announced the results of developing Vietnam’s agricultural export market in the first half of 2023 and export orientation in the second half of 2023.

Accordingly, the total export turnover in the first 6 months of the year reached 24.59 billion USD, down 11.1% compared to the same period in 2022. The cause was determined to be the general economic recession globally, Inflation along with inventory imported from 2022 still exists in many key markets, causing agricultural, forestry and fishery export orders to decrease.

However, in addition to the decline in exports of forestry and aquatic products at a rate of 28.2% and 27.4% respectively over the same period in 2022, many domestic businesses have taken advantage of the opportunity. to increase exports to China and a number of other countries, as these countries promote food imports to serve reserve needs and ensure food security. As a result, exports of rice, vegetables, cashews, and coffee increased by 34.7%, 64.2%, 7.7%, and 3% respectively over the same period in 2022, of which exports of rice and vegetables were spike.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development expects that in the second half of 2023, the following products will be the main export products of Vietnam’s agricultural industry.

First, vegetables. Vegetables and fruits are the product with the third largest export value among the main export products in the first 6 months of 2023 with a value of 2.75 billion USD, an increase of 64.2% over the same period. China holds an export market share of 63.5% with a growth rate of over 80% in the first 6 months of the year. When the market reopens after the epidemic, it is a big advantage for Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports. In the last 6 months of the year, it is forecast that fruit and vegetable exports will maintain good growth if businesses focus on quality, improve design, packaging, and traceability to meet market standards and regulations. .

Second, rice. Vietnam’s rice exports in the first 6 months of 2023 reached 4.2 million tons (down 10.5%) and 2.2 million USD (up 8.1%) over the same period. Exports are likely to slow down because supplies from the Winter-Spring crop have dried up. However, the rice industry outlook is considered to be relatively positive in the last 6 months of the year because rice output in many producing countries in Asia is at risk of decline under the impact of El Nino. This will boost demand as well as rice prices in the international market.

Third, coffee. Coffee exports in the first 6 months of 2023 reached 2.41 billion USD, up 3% over the same period. It is forecasted that coffee exports in the coming time will decrease significantly in volume but export prices will continue to increase due to reduced supply as the area decreases.

Fourth, cashews. Cashew nut exports in the first 6 months of 2023 reached 1.62 billion USD, up 7.7% over the same period. In the coming time, Vietnam’s cashew industry will still face many major challenges from international economic and political situations, exchange rate fluctuations, reduced consumption, and increased processing costs. It is forecast that cashew consumption demand will still be slow and selling prices will be difficult to increase.

Fifth, pepper. Pepper exports in the first 6 months of 2023 reached 498 million USD, down 11% over the same period. In the last months of the year, pepper exports are expected to continue to face difficulties due to slow recovery in major markets, and inventory from the previous year is also the reason why importers reduce their purchases of pepper from Vietnam.

Friday, seafood. Seafood exports in the first 6 months of 2023 reached 4.13 billion USD, down 27.4% over the same period. It is forecast that from now until the end of the year, the seafood consumption market may recover slowly. Inventories in major markets such as the United States and the EU and low-cost products from other countries such as Ecuador and India will greatly impact Vietnam’s seafood exports, especially shrimp products.

Seventh, wood and wood products. Export of wood and wood products in the first 6 months of 2023 reached 6.01 billion USD, down 28.8%. It is forecasted that the export of wood and wood products from now until the end of the year will still face many difficulties as export markets continue to tighten spending to curb inflation, demand in the US market is low, and the EU applies many New law related to deforestation, including wood products.
